U.S. 54 driving difficult; more snow, wind predicted for southwest Quay County

Road and weather update, 6 a.m. Monday:

U.S. 54 from Tucumcari to Nara Visa is experiencing difficult diving conditions, this morning, according to the New Mexico Dept. of Transportation.

The National Weather Service expects that snow showers will continue through sunrise. Snow along Interstate 40 will will continue through Milagro, Santa Rosa and Newkirk, but will then move southeast through Vaughn, Pastura, House and McAlister before moving further south.

These areas may experience up to an inch of fresh snow and gusty winds up to 35 miles per hour. Blowing snow may reduce visibility.
