Fire destroys Stuckey's, Dairy Queen site

link The building that housed Stuckeys and the Dairy Queen at Palomas, eight miles west of Tucumcari, was destroyed by fire on Easter Sunday. Fire officials received the first alarm shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, according to the Rev. John Hinze, chief of the Quay County Rural I fire department. Eleven units from Rural I, Rural II, Rural III, Tucumcari Fire Dept. and the Bard-Endee helped fight the blaze. Hinze said about 20 volunteer firefighters responded, and crews stayed until about 5 p.m. The cause of the fire was suspicious, Hinze said.
