Cannon air show set for 10 a.m. start

The air show at Cannon Air Force Base will begin at 10 a.m. today, base officials said.

The Wings of Blue performance will begin at 11 a.m. and Cannon's capability demonstration will start at noon.

The Thunderbirds show is still scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. All other events will continue as scheduled.

Gates had been scheduled to open at 8 a.m. but thunderstorms across the region caused delays. Clovis has received more than 3 inches of rain since Friday morning, according to KVII-TV.

A spokesman for the National Weather Service in Albuquerque said rain is expected to taper off about 10 this morning and the area could be dry until late afternoon.

“Looks like another real wet night tonight, but from 10 (a.m.) until about 2 or 3 this afternoon, you should be OK,” said NWS meteorologist Chuck Jones.

Isolated storms are expected again Sunday, with a 30 percent chance of rain.

Cannon has reported 1.80 inches of rain since late Thursday.
