The Tucumcari Blake’s Lotaburger outlet is home to one of the top 50 breakfast burritos in New Mexico, and therefore has been designated as a stop on the New Mexico True Breakfast Burrito Byway, according to a news release from the state’s department of tourism.

The Blake’s outlet is located at 2523 S. First St., Tucumcari.

The launch of the Breakfast Burrito Byway wraps up a heated competition for bragging rights among 400 restaurants that were self-nominated or nominated by customers, the news release said. During public voting from April 21 through May 18, enthusiasts cast 46,766 votes to whittle the field to the final 50, which became founding members of the breakfast burrito byway and earned a spot on an interactive map, according to the news release.

“Restaurants in New Mexico account for $3.1 billion in annual sales and $20 million in gross receipts taxes,” Gov. Susana Martinez said. “The New Mexico True Breakfast Burrito Byway is a fun and exciting way to highlight our incredible cuisine, promote tourism and help bring even more dollars to New Mexico restaurants.”The complete list of byway stops is available by visiting http://www.newmexico.org/burrito.
