Two Arizona residents die in rollover crash near San Jon

Two Arizona residents were killed when they were ejected a pickup truck as it rolled over Saturday morning on Interstate 40 near San Jon, about 20 miles east of Tucumcari, a New Mexico State Police spokesman said.

George Olsen, 67, and Paulette Olsen, 66, both of Fountain Hills, Ariz., were pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Damyan Brown, state police public information officer.

State police responded to the accident report at 9:21 a.m., Brown said.

Initial investigation shows that the pair's 2002 Ford pickup was traveling east on I-40 when for unknown reasons it left the roadway, Brown said. The driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll, Brown said..

The crash occurred due to driver inattention, but it is unknown which of the occupants was driving. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, Brown said.
