Rattler runners bring home team and individual honors

Rattlers boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams brought home championship honors Friday from the Hagerman Invite.

In addition to the first place team finishes Daniel Blea won the individual boys’ championship and Kaycee Lease won the individual girls’ championship.

On Sept. 13 the girls’ team placed 12th at the ATC invite at Santa Fe, competing against tough runners, including those from the nationally ranked Los Alamos Hilltoppers, said Gary Hittson, cross country coach.

Hittson said the team is off for homecoming week but will participate on Oct. 4 in the Mesalands Community College Fun Run at Tucumcari.

The Tucumcari Rattlers junior varsity football team lost their first game of the season Saturday against the Rams junior varsity team at Portales. their next game is at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 2 against Estancia.

The Tucumcari junior varsity volleyball team has a record of 1-4 and their next match will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday against Melrose.
