Support local car shows As a car enthusiast, I’m disappointed with the car show at the Fired-Up program Sept. 27 in Tucumcari. Only four cars and three motorcycles were at the show. I’m an outsider (not from Tucumcari), but I know of at least 12 to 25 nice cars in the Tucumcari area. When you have from $100 to $100,000 in a car, why wouldn't you want to show it? The Rockabilly show and the show at K-mart three years ago were great. So what happened at the Fired-up show? Is it race, politics, or a money issue? I was hoping the car shows would grow and put Tucumcari back on the map. Please support all car shows. My car is finally getting ready to run after five years in storage, thanks to a friend and neighbor. I will be at as many shows as possible.

Where were qualifications?

In reference to the City Manager position in Tucumcari, I noticed in the Quay County Sun’s article on October 14 that only one woman had applied for the position. With all due respect to the Commission, I wonder if Geraldine Marquez was even seriously considered for the position simply because she is a woman. It also concerns me that she was not even shown respect in regard to her professional credentials. She was simply listed as “local resident” while the two gentlemen’s credentials were listed. I am a retired “local resident”, but I do have professional credentials. I would have been offended had I not been shown enough respect to at least list those credentials.
