Larry Rigdon’s job as Tucumcari’s fire chief ended Wednesday, Tucumcari City Manager Jared Langenegger confirmed on Thursday.

Langenegger said Rigdon is no longer employed by the city, but declined to say whether Rigdon resigned or was fired.

“It was a personnel action,” he said.

Scot Jaynes, assistant fire chief and manager of the emergency dispatch system, has been named acting fire chief, Langenegger said.

The Tucumcari City Commission met behind closed doors Thursday night after its regular session to discuss a personnel matter related to fire and emergency medical services, but Langenegger did not say whether the commission acted on Rigdon’s employment status.

Rigdon could not be reached for comment Friday.
