The New Mexico Department of Transportation urges caution on these roadways:
Interstate 40 from Albuquerque to the Texas state line: Difficult driving conditions roads are wet, snow packed and icy in spots. Visibility is limited due to moderate snow. Watch for snow plows in the area. Please drive with caution, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs.
US 54, from Tucumcari to the Texas state line: Difficult driving conditions. Roads are snowpacked and icy. Visibility is low. Snowplows are operating. Please drive with caution, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs.
NM 209 , Tucumcari to Clovis: Roads are snowpacked and icy. Snow is causing low visibility. Watch for snowplows in the area. Please drive with caution, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs.
NM 252 west of House to north of McAlister: Roads are snowpacked and icy. Snow is causing low visibility. Watch for snowplows in the area. Please drive with caution, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs.
NM 156, Ragland area to Santa Rosa: Roads are snowpacked and icy. Snow is causing low visibility. Watch for snow plows in the area. Please drive with caution, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs. This event will be updated as it changes.
According to the National Weather Service:
* A winter weather advisory in effect until 11 p.m. today.
* The Quay County area can expect another 1 to 3 inches of snow.
* Snow is expected to continue through the afternoon and taper off this evening.
* Snow-packed and icy roads are expected to lead to difficult travel conditions.
* Drivers should be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
