A Tucumcari man pleaded guilty to five of 13 felony charges related to sexual content of a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and manufacture and possession of child pornography Tuesday in Tenth Judicial District Court.

Angel Griego, 21, will undergo a 90-day evaluation before he is sentenced, Judge Albert Mitchell ruled. In the meantime, Griego will remain under house arrest with electronic monitoring. Under a plea agreement, Griego is facing three years in prison, followed by parole of up to 20 years. He will also have to register as a sex offender.

Griego was arrested in November after he allegedly met with a 14-year-old female Tucumcari High School student at lunch, gave her alcoholic beverages, then fondled her before returning her to school.

The girl was reported to the school office as being highly intoxicated after lunch and was hospitalized for alcohol poisoning, according to court documents. She later told police about the incident, court documents said.

While investigating the girl’s allegations, police found pictures of breasts and genitalia of one16-year-old female student and a 12-year-old female student on Griego’s cell phone, as well as some Facebook messages, that resulted in charges of manufacturing and possession of child pornography, according to court documents.

Griego was arrested on Nov. 17 and was later freed on bail, but was arrested again on Dec. 11 after the pornographic images and messages were found.

Tenth Judicial District Attorney Tim Rose said he was satisfied with the sentence. He said the 90-day evaluation period would begin a process of counseling and treatment that would help Griego deal with sexual related issues after he is released from prison.
