Tucumcari will host a Verizon Wireless store beginning in March March, if all goes according to schedule.

Greg Wensel, a representative for Ensignal, the company that will own the store, said the Tucumcari outlet will be a full-service Verizon store, selling and servicing phones and service packages.

The store will be located at 912 E. Rte 66 Blvd, Tucumcari, the old NAPA Auto Parts location.

Michael Hicklin, owner of the property, said Ensignal is seeking to expand in eastern New Mexico.

Wensel said Ensignal, based in Wichita, Kansas, is growing all over the southwestern U.S.

“We focus on serving small towns,” he said.

Ensignal’s website describes the company as “a premier Verizon Wireless retailer” that focuses on serving rural areas. The website says Ensignal has been in the telephone business for 50 years.

Wensel said Ensignal is seeking a manager and one other employee to start the business, “and we’ll see what happens from there.”
