County buys Teambuilders' building to expand office space

QCS Senior Writer

The Quay County Commission approved the purchase of the Turquoise (formerly Teambuilders) office building on the 1100 block of East High to address crowding at the County Courthouse.

The building will allow the county to relocate offices and free up space at the courthouse, said County Manager Richard Primrose, who presented the option to purchase the building for $195,00 from the owners Full Circle Holdings, LLC Monday during an executive session.

Commissioners exited the executive session and once in public session, District 3 Commissioner Mike Cherry made the motion to purchase the building.

“It has the space we need, it’s well worth the price and the county has a definite need for the building,” Cherry said.

District 1 Commissioner Sue Dowell seconded the motion and added, “The price for a building of this size is too low to pass up.”

Commission Chair Franklin McCasland said the money for the initial purchase of the building will come from the county’s capital improvement funds.

Primrose said the county will be reimbursed for the purchase with the money granted to them from a loan from the New Mexico Finance Authority. He said the loan has a zero percent interest rate and will be paid off through money collected from gross receipts taxes.
