Mesalands Community College announced the retirement of library technician, Susan Reid, after 25 years of dedicated service.

Reid was instrumental in assisting the college through four accreditation processes, acted as temporary librarian over the years, and was nominated by her colleagues as the 2015 Staff Member of the Year.

“I've had the pleasure of working with Susan for over 20 years,” said Natalie Gillard, Mesalands vice president of academic affairs. “Her loyalty, dedication, and perseverance have been unwavering and should be recognized and remembered. Along the journey, there have been fun times and not so fun times, but due to Susan's strength, courage and commitment, she held steadfast and survived the journey.”

Gillard said Reid exemplifies what Staff Member of the Year honor stands for, adding that Reid demonstrates excellence in overall work performance, promotes positive morale with a supportive attitude, improves operating efficiency while exhibiting initiative and creativity, and demonstrates the goals identified in the college mission statement.

The library played a significant role in the accreditation planning process. Reid served on criteria committees, conducted research, and gathered and organized library resources. Her journey through four successful HLC accreditations, demonstrates her extensive knowledge of Mesalands. This wisdom has been vital to the growth and success of the College.

“On behalf of Mesalands Community College, I want to thank Susan Reid for her commitment to the college and to the success of our students,” said.

Mesalands President Dr. Thomas W. Newsom. “Susan's contributions will continue to move the college forward, well into the future.”
