Lady Rattlers set to host volleyball tournament

Staff Report

The (1-1) Tucumcari Lady Rattlers will host the Rattler Invite volleyball tournament on Friday and Saturday at the Snake Pit.

There are a lot of good teams competing in the tournament that will help the Lady Rattlers to develop as they work toward winning a district championship, said Lawrence Sena, Lady Rattler head coach.

Sena said the team’s recent four-set win over Pecos on Aug. 26 showed positives and negatives to the Lady Rattlers. He said the girls lost focus in the third set and made errors that allowed Pecos to pull ahead for the victory.

“CWe need to work on keeping our focus when out on the court,” Sena said. “Mental mistakes give the other teama chance to pull away with the game. In district the girls can not afford to make those kind of mistakes.”

Teams comepting in the tournament include are teams from Logan and San Jon as well as Pecos and East Mountain.

Pool play for the tournament begins at 10 a.m., Friday at the Snake Pit.
