Mesalands Community College will be holding Stampede Week, Oct. 5-10 to prepare for the eighth annual Grand Canyon Region Intercollegiate Fall Rodeo that will be held on Oct. 9-10 at the Quay County Rodeo Arena.
The following activities have been scheduled for Stampede Week:
Oct. 5 Branding Day
• For Branding Day, everyone is encouraged to wear their Mesalands and Stampede attire all day.
The Mesalands Bookstore will offer a 20 percent discount off of apparel. The bookstore is located in Building G and is open Monday-Thursday from 7:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m.,.
Oct. 6 - Movie Night
• Join us for a movie night at 7 p.m., at the Odeon Theater at 123 south Second Street.
• Free admission for Mesalands students, faculty and staff. Must show college idenitification.
Oct. 7 Stampede Chili Feed
• Enjoy Stampede Chili (while supplies last) from noon -1:30 p.m., in the building A West Parking Lot, near the Fitness Center.
• Take part in some games and activities during this event.
Oct. 8 Meet the Stampede Day
• Join us for a free Pre-Rodeo event 6 p.m., at the Quay County Rodeo Arena to meet the members of the 2015-2016 Mesalands Rodeo Team. Come out and enjoy free hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy during this event. The community is encouraged to wear their Stampede apparel all day.
Oct. 9 Mesalands eighth annual rodeo
• The first rodeo performance will begin at 6 p.m., at the Quay County Rodeo Arena.
• Tickets: $5, seniors 55 and older $2, children younger than 12 are free (accompanied by a paying adult)
• Free admission for Mesalands students, faculty and staff. Must show college ID.
Oct. 10 Mesalands eighth annual rodeo
• Slack starts at 9 a.m., at the Quay County Rodeo Arena (no cost for admission)
• Championship Performance is at p.m., at the Quay County Rodeo Arena
• Tickets: $5, seniors 55 and older $2, children younger than 12 are free (accompanied by a paying adult)
• Free admission for Mesalands students, faculty, and staff. Must show college ID.
Oct. 11 National Fossil Day
• The Mesalands Community College's Dinosaur Museum and Natural Sciences Laboratory will be celebrating National Fossil Day at noon-5 p.m., with no cost for admission. The museum is at 222 Laughlin Avenue.
