County OK’s solar bonds

Quay County commissioners Monday amended a grant that will result in the county getting $10,000 more to help the county combat drunken driving.

Commissioners amended the DWI grant to reflect a new total of $27,410; the prior amount was $17,264.

County DWI Coordinator Bryan Rinestine said the grant fund will help pay to hire a new employee for the program.

In other action, commissioners:

• Approved Ordinance 50 for the issuance and sale of industrial revenue bonds for the planned construction of a solar project in Quay County near the Caprock Wind Farm by Infigen.

• Approved the contract between Mesa Counseling and the Quay County Detention Center for inmate evaluations.

• Approved paying the increased rate of housing juvenile inmates at the McKinley County Juvenile Detention Center from $125 to $175 a day.

• Appointed Chris Prieto to fill the vacancy at the Ute Lake Ranch Public Improvement District No. 2.

• Approved amendments to two cooperative agreements and Resolution 14 authorizing the execution and delivery of local government planning grant agreement between the New Mexico Finance authority and Quay County for road improvements on Quay Road 63 (cemetery road).

• Held an executive session for limited personnel matters and threatened or pending litigation. No actions was taken.
