Logan seniors urged to remember to have fun

For the 18 graduating seniors of Logan High School, Saturday's ceremony marked both the transition from the familiarity and comfort of high school to the unfamiliarity of the world beyond the school campus.

“We are feeling anxious, confused and a little sad as we are about to be pulled in separate directions in our lives,” said Brinton Roach, class salutatorian.

Roach said along the way, he and his classmates have worked hard to get to where they are today. He said they also spent too much time worrying about things that probably didn't matter.

“To my friends, thank you for the incredible memories I will cherish forever,” Roach said in his speech to his classmates. “To my teachers, thank you for pushing me every day to do my best in your classrooms.”

Roach said that his family has been the rock in supporting him in all that he has done.

“Giving me comfort during a loss and praise during a win,” Roach said. “Constantly pushing me to do better and in combination with my teachers driving me to be the best that I could be.”

"Seniors, this is it, this is what all of us have been working for all these years," said Mikela Bruhn, class valedictorian.

“All the testing and hours of late-night studying has lead us here to our goal,” Bruhn said. “I am going to miss you all but am excited to see what the future has in store for us.”

Bruhn said for the past few years, the seniors have been trying to decide what they were going to do after graduation. She said some plan to enter the workforce and other would join the workforce.

“We are about to be on our own, which can be a little scary yet exciting at the same time,” Bruhn said.

Bruhn said at times life is sure to be scary and complicated and beautiful and exciting all at the same time. "Remember that," she said, "as you head out into the world.”

Bruhn said it would be important to work hard and push yourself to succeed. She said it is also important to remember to live and laugh.

“You need to find a balance between work and fun,” Bruhn said. “This way, you're not working your life away while still being productive.”
