Police still investigating the suspicious death of a man in Tucumcari

The Tucumcari Police Department is investigating the death of Anthony Gallegos whose body was found Wednesday on West Sunset Avenue.

“This is a an ongoing investigation and at this time the cause of Gallegos’ death is not being released,” said Police Chief Jason Braziel.

On Friday, members of the New Mexico State Police Criminal Investigations Bureau assisted the police department with processing of the crime scene and the interviewing of witnesses.

Braziel said at 4:18 p.m., Wednesday, officers responded to the report of a possible deceased person on the 700 block of West Sunset Avenue. He said officers were able to identify Gallegos, whose body they discovered in an alley.

Braziel said officers secured the area and began their investigation. He said at this time the incident remains under investigation and further details were unavailable.
