The Tucumcari boys and girls cross country teams' first meet was canceled so they will start their season Thursday at Lovington.
Coach Gary Hittson said the Rattlers and Lady Rattlers were set to start the season on Saturday. However, their plans changed when Victory Christian canceled its cross country meet.
“Victory Christian's program was shut down,” Hittson said. “The boys and girls will have to wait another week for actual competition.”
Hittson said there is no substitute for competing against other teams. He said the boys and girls continue to practice but need the competition of
other runners to measure and push themselves.
The cross country teams will compete at 3 p.m., Thursday at Lovington.
