• Quay County Commissioner Bill Yates was presented the key of completion by Gene Dyer at the grand opening of the Quay County exhibit center.
• Tommy Garcia won the Elks Club Hoop Shoot in the 8 and 9-year-old division and traveled to compete in the state competition in Albuquerque.
• A 1928 Ford Tri-motor model 5-AT landed at the Tucumcari airport to refuel while en route to the Grand Canyon National Park to be used for tours. The plane was refurbished by Scenic Airlines and was one of three left in active use.
