Fundraiser shrimp boil called success

A weekend fundraising shrimp boil raised more than $8,000 for the Paws and Claws Animal Rescue Group.

“The event was a huge success thanks to the generosity and support of the community,” said Kathy McClelland, program director.

McClelland said the money raised from ticket sales and a silent auction will help to fund the programs services. She said those services include vet visits, spay and neutering clinics and food and supply cost.

McClelland said the main goal for raising money is to build an indoor kennel for the dogs before the winter. She said the rescue group operates on donations and grants.

“Every donation helps us in our efforts to help the stray, abandoned animals of Quay County,” McClelland said.
