5K Fun Run/Walk slated Saturday

The Quay County Health Council’s Nutrition and Fitness Committee, Quay County Extension Service’s eighth annual 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday in Tucumcari.

Registration will begin at 7:15 a.m., at Damon Kvols Park on Route 66 and South Sixth Street. Everyone needs to be registered by 7:45 a.m., in order to participate in the orientation. The walk will begin at 8 a.m., with participants following a marked course.

There will be a first aid station on the course hosted by PMS Quay County Family Health Center and refreshment station hosted by Altrusa.

Workshops aimed at new parents

The Early Childhood Coalition with the Quay County Health Council are offering monthly workshops for new and expecting parents.

During the workshops, participants will be introduced to community resources for them and their babies while having the opportunity to share with each other.

Each month there will be games and a speaker on topics selected by the group.

The next event will be held at 5:30 p.m., on Oct. 10 at the Center Street United Methodist Church located at 406 E Center Street in Tucumcari.

The special guest speaker will share tips for “Baby’s Day Out” featuring tips on traveling with your baby, including; packing for a trip, information on car seats and how to obtain a low-cost car seat.

Throughout the evening there will be giveaways and a door prize. These events are free to the public and you do not need to pre-register.

Child care will be available and supper will be provided.
