• Police warned parents to look out for "blue star" tattoos on white paper that their children may have. Officers said the paper had LSD in it, and children could absorb the drug through the mouth or the skin innocently.

• David Foote was the Arch Hurley Conservancy District Manager.

• Rattler Bill Ortiz took nearly four seconds off the 3200 meter run school record at the Clovis Invitational Track and Field Meet. He placed fourth at the meet with a time of 10:29:21.

• Stacey Wooten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wooten was crowned Miss San Jon.
