Life commences for 54 students of class of 2018.
The class of 2018 graduates toss their caps in the air to celebrate their conclusion of education at Tucumcari High School.
The graduates of the Class of 2018 must be kinetic to move forward in life and succeed, said Tucumcari High School Salutatorian Sydney Goldston.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate during Friday's commencement ceremony of more than 54 graduates at the Snake Pit in Tucumcari.
"It has been go, go, go since the start of Senior Week," said Jimmy Encinias, father of graduate Melina Encinias.
Encinias said Melina's graduation will make the fifth graduation from their home, with one more to go.
Goldston said the graduates have great potential that can shape the world.
"You must be kinetic in your journey through life," Goldston said. "Potential without momentum is pointless, you will never get anywhere."
Goldston said the only constant in the world for the graduates is change and once they leave the gym their whole lives will have changed. She said there will be many roads before the graduates filled with test and trials.
"I hope when you look back 10 years from now, you don't remember high school as the best years of your life," Goldston said. "Instead I hope you see it as the foundation that you have built your life upon."
Valedictorian Daniel Caldera's speech was short and to the point.
"This may the first time many of you have heard me speak, and for some it is the longest you may have heard me talk at once," Caldera said.
Caldera said the graduates have had many supporters throughout their high school journey. He said these supporters include family, friends and classmates.
"You must remember in your journey through life the most important person with the most impact in your life, is you," Caldera said. "You make the decisions that will shape your life."
