Person of interest arrested

The final person of interest in the July 24 shooting at a local motel was arrested on Monday by Tucumcari Police Officers.

Joseph Quintana, 30, was taken into custody without incident by officers said Pete Rivera, TPD deputy chief.

Quintana had been on the run since the July 24 shooting that resulted in one male being transported to Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to an Amarillo hospital.

With the assistance of multiple agencies, Bobby Vandiver, 31, was arrested following a more than eight-hour search, said Russell Shafer, Quay County Sheriff.

Vandiver and Quintana have been charged with assault with intent to commit a violent felony and booked into the Quay County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

Shafer said Joseph Quintana, 30, of Tucumcari is being sought for questioning in this incident.

Shafer said at 8:45 a.m., Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a gunshot victim at a motel on the 800 block of West Route 66. He said upon arrival law enforcement officers made contact with a male who had been shot.

Shafer said the victim described the individuals that allegedly shot him to the deputies. He said after speaking with witnesses from the surrounding area a perimeter was established from West Route 66 to West Laughlin Avenue to attempt to locate the two individuals described.
