• Tucumcari Industries, the city's new garment factory, will be interviewing applicants and begin hiring within a week, according to Houston A. "Bud" Doss, co-owner of the firm. Doss says the firm already has orders for 30,000 jackets - enough to keep it busy through January. He said the company anticipates hiring up to 100 people its first year.

• Tucumcari High School principal William L. Litchfield announced one student - Miss Lynn Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira W. Parker of Tucumcari - has been named a semifinalist in the 1968-1969 National Merit scholarship program.

• Bobbye Thrasher and Rayma Terry, both sophomores, will be contestants in the upcoming Miss San Jon Pageant at the San Jon Sportatorium. Thrasher, sponsored by the sophomore class, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thrasher of San Jon. Terry, sponsored by the Future Homemakers of America, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Terry of San Jon.
