Residents can dumpone free load Saturday at landfill

The city of Tucumcari will allow residents free disposal of one load of municipal solid waste up to 1,000 pounds from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Tucumcari Landfill, 30652 U.S. Route 54, according to a city news release.

The offer is open to only city residents with a current paid water bill.

Some restrictions apply, including the following:

n Construction debris and tires are not covered under the free offer. Normal fees will be charged for construction debris and tires.

n Any load with a weight over 1,000 pounds will be charged at the normal fee. If a resident chooses to bring construction debris and municipal solid waste, the load must be separated and fees paid accordingly.

n As always, asbestos or any other hazardous wastes are not permitted for disposal at the landfill.

Dumping fees are $46 a ton with a $10 minimum.

Tires are $3 each under 19 inches, and $7 each above 19 inches.

Tree branches can be dropped off at Coronado Park for free from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
