1968: Laura Cameron, 81, a former pioneer resident of the region, has written her first book, “Looking Through the Window,” that will be released sometime this fall. It is a book of memoirs, prose and poetry, capturing the bright and sad moments as they occurred over a period of 50 years. She was the wife of A.W. Cameron, who homesteaded 45 miles southeast of Tucumcari and became the first postmaster of what became Cameron, New Mexico.
