Logan boys triumph over Boise City

The Logan boys basketball team used two big scoring runs in the middle of the game to prevail 49-33 on Saturday over Boise City, Oklahoma.

Dyson Day led the Longhorns (8-1) with 12 points, while Chase Earle added 11.

Logan was trailing 9-6 at the end of the first quarter but went on a 14-0 run to start the second to take a 20-9 lead it wouldn't relinquish. The Longhorns also went on a 12-0 run to start the third period to effectively put the game away.

“Both teams had a hard time scoring in the first half,” Logan coach Kyle Griffiths said. “Once we got going in transition in the second half, we wore them down.”

Logan 74, Des Moines 66

Logan took a 15-6 lead in the first quarter and hung on the rest of the way Friday during a 74-66 win over host Des Moines.

Day scored 29 points for the Longhorns, while teammate Kyle Knight added 14.

“It was a rough game, pretty ugly,” Griffiths said. “But we will take a win.”

Des Moines fell to 2-9 overall.

Logan 81, Roy/Mosquero 38

Logan seized control early against Harding County rival Roy/Mosquero during a 81-38 win Thursday.

Logan outscored its foe 30-10 in the second quarter to take a commanding 45-22 lead at intermission.

Day led Logan with 24 points, while Dante Sanchez added 13.

Dora 57, Grady 37

After a strong start, Grady/San Jon/House withered during a 57-37 road loss at Dora on Dec. 18.

“I was very pleased with our effort in the first quarter, but a basketball game is four quarters long,” Bronchos coach Jonathan Langan said. “If we would’ve put four quarters together like the first, there might’ve been a different outcome in our favor.”

Chisum Rush led the Bronchos with 15 points.

Dora improved to 6-3 overall. Grady/San Jon/House fell to 2-4.
