Santa Rosa 79, Logan 49

Santa Rosa handed Logan only its second loss of the season by dominating early during a 79-49 victory Friday at Santa Rosa.

The Lions, ranked fifth in Class 2A by MaxPreps.com, led 22-11 at the end of the first quarter and 40-23 at halftime to improve to 6-2 overall.

Logan, ranked No. 3 in Class A, fell to 9-2.

Dyson Day led the losing Longhorns with 20 points, while Dante Sanchez added 16.

“Santa Rosa is really good,” Logan coach Kyle Griffiths said. “We came off a long break for Christmas, and we only had a couple of practices. No excuses, but we were flat and couldn’t make our shots. They were hitting everything, and we couldn’t hit anything.”
