Logan restaurant moving

The Mama T’s restaurant in Logan is moving to the nearby Whiskey — The Road to Ruin building, where it will reopen by late spring with a larger menu and more employees.

Mama T’s, at 120 U.S. 54 since September 2016, is moving its equipment and furnishings into the building, previously an Eagles lodge, at 103 U.S. 54.

The restaurant’s manager, Brian Cox, said he seeks to reopen the family-owned business in early May.

“We have outgrown our seating area and have been looking to upsize for a while now,” Cox stated in an email.

Cox said the new version of Mama T’s will add more Mexican food, American food and more barbecue options.

He said the restaurant also would add more staff.

“The name will be Mama T's Road to Ruin,” Cox stated. “We will be moving our living veteran wall and will continue honoring those who (have) served our country. We started the veteran wall at our original location.”

Cox said the original Whiskey — The Road to Ruin tavern closed in 1999. The Eagles took over the building after that until it closed last year and Mama T’s bought it.

According to the Tucumcari Historical Museum, the building once was The Ranch Bar, owned by Mae Cobb. The bar later changed its name to Whiskey — The Road to Ruin. Before that, it was Johnson Mercantile.

Cox said several people are looking at leasing the old Mama T’s building.
