Community education classes starting soon

Mesalands Community College will begin its spring community education classes in February.

A new schedule of classes will be offered each month.

For February, Mesalands Community College will offer a “Love is in the Air” crafting class from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in preparation for Valentine’s Day. Cost is $10, plus a $10 supply fee payable to the instructor the day of the class.

Learn how to loom in the “Basic Loom Knitting 101” class from 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays through Feb. 25. Cost is $10, plus a $10 supply fee payable to the instructor the day of the class.

Residents can increase their knowledge of the Gospels in “Bible Study: Connecting the Dots” class from 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 5 and Feb. 19. It is a non-denominational Bible study that will focus on the New Testament. The class is free.

New computer users can learn the basics in “How Do I Turn This Thing On?” from 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 12 and Feb. 14. Cost is $10.

Residents interested in earning a High School Equivalency, formally known as GED, are encouraged to attend HSE Orientation from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 12. The orientation is free.

In the “Ancient Chinese Secret” class from 6 to 7:30 pm Feb. 18, participants will prepare favorite Chinese dishes, including stir fry, egg drop soup and fried rice. Cost is $10, plus a $5 supply fee payable to the instructor the day of the class.
