The Logan boys basketball team suffered a key district loss, 77-62, on Saturday at home against Fort Sumner.
The Foxes took control of what was a close game by outscoring the Longhorns 44-30 in the second half.
“We let them get rolling in the second half offensively, and we were cold,” Logan coach Kyle Griffiths said. “They are tough to beat when they get hot.”
Logan and Fort Sumner both sport 6-1 records and are tied for first place in Class 1A, District 6. The Foxes have only host Melrose left on their schedule Thursday; the Longhorns play at Grady at Grady on Thursday.
Griffiths said if the regular season ends with the first-place tie, Logan and Fort Sumner would have to play a tiebreaking game Saturday at a time and location to be determined.
Logan fell to 19-5. Fort Sumner improved to 18-7.
Dyson Day led the Longhorns with 20 points, while Chase Earle added 15.
Grady 70, Clovis Christian 45
The Bronchos jumped out to a 40-25 lead at halftime en route to a 70-45 district victory Thursday over Clovis Christian.
Chisum Rush led Grady with 28 points as his team improved to 7-14 overall and 2-4 in District 6-1A. Chad Becerra added 16 points and Dustin Bryant 14 for the Bronchos.
Clovis Christian fell to 3-15, 0-8.
