Grady/San Jon pitcher Chisum Rush winds up for a pitch during a game against Logan in April. Rush was named to the all-district and all-state teams.

The Grady/San Jon baseball team had just one player make the all-district team in Distirct 2-1A, but he wound up also making the all-state squad.

Junior right-handed pitcher Chisum Rush earned all-district and all-state honors with 94 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings and a 2.20 earned-run average during the season for the 2-16 Bronchos.

Logan (8-12) had three players make the all-district team - Dante Sanchez, Park Strong and Chase Hittson.

Sanchez, a sophomore outfielder and shortstop, hit .638 on the season with 25 stolen bases. Strong, an eighth-grade pitcher and catcher, hit .356 with 22 stolen bases. Hittson, a senior outfielder and first baseman, stole 14 bases.

Logan and Grady/San Jon were part of the same district as Gateway Christian, which went 20-0 and breezed to a state championship.

For Tucumcari (1-21), sophomore infielder Joey Dysart and senior outfielder Malachi Anaya each earned all-district honors in District 4/5-3A.
