1969: A 12-year-old girl from Tucumcari was badly cut on the leg as she walked home from a ballgame with friends. A person in a passing white automobile threw a bottle, injuring the girl and requiring hospitalization. The incident occurred about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of West Gaynell Avenue (aka Route 66).

• Gene Richardson was named the new pastor of Center Street Methodist Church in Tucumcari. He is described as being “not new” to the area, as he once pastored a Methodist church in San Jon. He and his wife have four children ranging in age from 17 years to seven months.

• The Canal Drive-In theater in Tucumcari advertised a double feature of “The Odd Couple” and “Barefoot in the Park.” For Friday the 13th, it offered a double feature “for night owls only” of the horror films “Tales of Terror” and “Circle of Horrors” that would begin at 11:30 p.m.
