Thursday — Flag Retirement Program. Worn and discarded U.S. flags will be disposed of properly at 10 a.m. during this ceremony sponsored by the Tucumcari chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Tucumcari main fire station, 123 N. Adams St., north of Citizens Bank.

Thursday — Fireworks display. The Elks Lodge again will host Tucumcari’s annual Independence Day fireworks show. The show begins at nightfall, which is about 9 p.m. or earlier if it’s cloudy. 2118 S. Adams St., Tucumcari.

Friday-Saturday — Fourth of July Street Dance. This event in Logan will feature raffle prizes, watermelon crawl, games, fireworks, live music and more. The dance will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday behind the Annex Bar & Grill in Logan. The parade will be on Logan streets west of U.S. 54 at 10 a.m. Saturday, with watermelon crawl from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Ute Lake State Park ballfield. Fireworks at nightfall Saturday at Ute Lake State Park, Logan.

Saturday — Cancer Survivors Walk. Join the Quay County Health Council Nutrition & Fitness Committee and special guest Esperanza Gutierrez for a walk in Dunn Park honoring cancer survivors. Prizes will be available for everyone who registers. cancer survivors will receive a special gift. 8 a.m., Dunn Park, Fourth Street and Washington Avenue, Tucumcari.

Sunday — Fireworks display. The village of San Jon will hold its annual fireworks display at the village park at nightfall. San Jon Village Park, San Jon.

July 13 — Tucumcari Farmers Market. Get the freshest locally grown produce at the Tucumcari farmers market from 10 am to noon. EBT credits are applicable. The farmers market is held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday and each Saturday morning through the summer and fall. Wailes Park, 1600 E. Tucumcari Blvd., Tucumcari.

July 13 — Skyliners concert. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at Rubee’s Diner in Tucumcari. Tucumcari Columbus Club, 204 E. Main St.

July 15 — Quay County Democratic Party meeting. The organization meets the third Monday of each month at noon at the Pow Wow Restaurant meeting room. Meetings are open to the public, and it encourages anyone who is interested to join. Pow Wow Restaurant, 801 W. Route 66, Tucumcari.

July 16 — Republican Party of Quay County meeting. Meetings fall on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Quality Inn in Tucumcari. 3716 E. Tucumcari Blvd., Tucumcari.

July 19 — St. Anne’s Parish Fiesta Raffle. Each $100 ticket entitles two to attend a Cajun shrimp boil dinner and raffle with a top prize of $5,000. Only 500 tickets will be sold. Tickets may be purchased from K-9 Design Grooming & Boarding, Bob’s Upholstery, Main Street Boutique and La Tiendita. July 19-20 — Quay County Horse Show. The 57th annual New Mexico State 4-H Horse Show and Quay County Ranch Horse begins Friday at 4 p.m., with the Saturday session beginning at 7 a.m. It will feature Halter class, Trail, English, Western riding and Reining classes. Quay County Fairgrounds.

July 20 — Route 66 and Railroad Day. It's a day of free admission at the Tucumcari Historical Museum. It will focus on Route 66 businesses, past and present, and local railroad history. Tucumcari Historical Museum, 416 S. Adams St.

July 26-27 — Quay County Rodeo. Concessions will be available beginning at 4:30 p.m. each day. The rodeo begins at 5 p.m. Schedule includes rough stock, barrels, poles, goat roping and roping events. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children, with programs costing $1 each. Quay County Fairgrounds.

Aug. 10 — “Patriotic Day.” The Tucumcari Historical Museum is hosting a celebration in remembrance of the military and veterans. There will be special guest speakers and fun for everyone. 416 S. Adams St.

Aug. 14-18 — Quay County Fair. Home Arts entries are from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Exhibits open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Bibles & Burritos will be at 8 a.m. each morning. Junior Livestock shows are scheduled each evening, with the sale starting at 6 p.m. Saturday. Sun Valley Rides Carnival begins at 5 p.m. daily. Presale all-you-can-ride tickets will be $18 (must be purchased before fair). Quay County fairgrounds, Tucumcari.
