• Wednesday — Quay County Family Health Clinic open house. This event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Tucumcari clinic. For more information, call (575) 461-2200. 1302 E. Main St., Tucumcari.

• Wednesday — Santa at Tucumcari Ranch Supply. If you haven’t gotten around to writing your Christmas letter, you can stop by Tucumcari Ranch Supply from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day and talk to Santa Claus about it. 502 S. Lake St., Tucumcari.

• Friday — Rawhide Carriage Rides. Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride in downtown Tucumcari starting at 5 p.m. for $5 a person, departing from the historic Tucumcari train depot. Hot cocoa or hot cider also will be served. Food vendors will offer green chile stew, hot chocolate, hot spiced apple cider, photo ops, Christmas music and more. 100 W. Railroad Ave., Tucumcari.

• Saturday — Christmas Light Parade. Entries can be anything, including, horses, wagons, semi-trucks, boats, RV’s or anything on wheels. There is no entry fee. The only stipulations are that all entries must be lighted, No live Santa on floats other than the official Santa Claus on the firetruck and that candy should not be thrown into or at the crowd. All entries must register and indicate a category. Recreational will include RVs, boats, motorcycles, bikes, horses and tractors. Entry deadline is Dec. 6. • Saturday — Christmas Nativity Display. About 30 nativities, including rare pieces from Africa and Mexico, will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Father’s Forge church, 622 S. Lake St., Tucumcari. Hot cider will be served to visitors.

• Dec. 13 — Tucumcari Historical Research Institute field trip. A bus tour will leave from and return to the Tucumcari Historical Museum. Among the place the tour will visit include the Nara Visa Museum, built as a school in 1921; Amistad Museum, housed in an original Montgomery Ward catalog home; lunch at Russell’s Travel Center in Endee and a tour of its car museum. Cost is $5 for museum members and $10 for nonmembers. Lunch is not included. Call (575) 461-4201. 416 S. Adams St., Tucumcari.

• Dec. 16 — Quay County Democratic Party meeting. The organization meets the third Monday of each month at noon at the Pow Wow Restaurant meeting room. Meetings are open to the public, and it encourages anyone who is interested to join. Pow Wow Restaurant, 801 W. Route 66, Tucumcari.

• Dec. 20 — Christmas Cantata and Dinner. The Center Street United Methodist Church will host this annual performance by the Quay County Community Choir from 7 to 8 p.m. 406 E. Center St., Tucumcari.

• Jan. 18 — Viva Las Tucumcari. The Tucumcari/Quay County Chamber of Commerce banquet from 6 to 9 p.m. offers plenty of fun and plenty to win between games, a prize raffle and a silent auction. The event also will introduce the first-ever Taste of Tucumcari. Check back for more information as the event approaches. Tickets will be $35 per person and $250 for a table of eight.
