Here are more details about Quay County teams in the state tournament:

Class 1A girls

Logan (22-4), despite a loss to District 6 rival Melrose on Friday, was awarded the top seed because of its three other victories this season against the second-seeded Lady Buffaloes.

The Lady Longhorns will host Dora (9-14), which earned a state-tournament spot because of a 6-4 mark in its district, at 6 p.m. Friday.

Logan faces the winner of a clash between eighth-seed and defending state champion Tatum (19-9) vs. ninth-seed Cimarron (16-11) on March 11 at Bernalillo High School. Times for second-round and semifinal games will be announced later.

The semifinals are March 12 at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, with the championship game at 10 a.m. March 14 at Dreamstyle Arena, aka The Pit, in Albuquerque.

Logan’s district landed the top three seeds in the tournament, with Melrose (23-4) at No. 2 and Fort Sumner (19-9) at No. 3. Both teams are on the other side of the bracket and would not play Logan until the final.

A vastly improved Clovis Christian team (15-12) also earned a spot in the tournament, seeded 11th.

Class 3A girls

Tucumcari (18-10), seeded ninth in the tournament, will go to eighth-seeded Laguna Acoma (23-5) at 6 p.m. Friday.

The winner would face the winner of 16th-seeded Crownpoint (12-16) vs. top-seeded Navajo Prep (24-2) on March 10 at the Santa Ana Star Center.

The semifinals are March 12 at the Santa Ana Star Center, with the final at 3 p.m. March 13 at Dreamstyle Arena.

Tucumcari district rival Tularosa (21-5), which the Lady Rattlers defeated three times during the season, was awarded the No. 2 seed and was placed on the other side of the bracket.

Dexter, though winless in Tucumcari’s district, earned the No. 14-seed because of its 16-11 record.

Class 1A boys

Eighth-seeded Grady/San Jon (12-11) will host ninth-seed Quemado (19-8) in its first-round clash at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grady.

The winner of that matchup likely will face top-seeded Melrose (25-1), which hosts 16th-seeded Dora (13-13) this week, on March 11 at Bernalillo High School.

Logan (15-13), seeded 10th, will play at seventh-seed Elida (21-7) at 6 p.m. Saturday.
