Author receives third award

A Logan author has received her third Mom’s Choice Gold Award for her Rocking R Ranch children’s books.

Connie Perez won the award for the third installment of her Rocking R series, “Farming on the Rocking R Ranch.”

The Mom’s Choice Awards, which has reviewed thousands of entries from more than 55 countries, evaluates products created for children, families and educators.

In the book, rancher Rosie works to fulfill her dream of hosting a Halloween event by preparing the ranch for crops, watering the plants and converting them into fun activities for children once fall arrives.

For her Rocking R Ranch books, Perez has drawn from her experiences of living on a ranch and being a former schoolteacher. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease after her retirement and began to paint and write as a way of coping with the disease.
