• Saturday — Walk with a Paws and Claws Rescue Dog. Quay County on the Move is hosting a fun walk event for everyone at 8 a.m.. Paws and Claws will provide dog to exercise while walking around Dunn Park, and participants can learn about Tucumcari’s no-kill animal shelter. Social distancing rules will be followed; make sure participants and their families walk at least 6 feet apart from others. Participants should wear a mask to the registration spot, and hand sanitizer will be available. The event is sponsored by the Quay County Health Council and funded by Presbyterian Health Care Services. For more, call (575) 815-4575. Dunn Park, Fourth Street and Washington Avenue, Tucumcari.

• Saturday — Rockin’ Route 66 livestream. The Rockin Route 66 Festival will be showcasing a livestream concert at 6:15 p.m. EDT or 4:15 p.m. MDT. The line-up will include the Waymores, Atomic Boogie, Jane Rose and the Deadend Boys; headlining the evening will be Slim and the Gems. Though organizers cannot host the festival in Tucumcari because of COVID-19 restrictions this year, it wanted to provide excitement of celebrating next year’s event during the 95th anniversary of Route 66. The livestream event may be viewed on Rockin Route 66’s Facebook page or on its website at rockinroute66.com.

• Sept. 26 — Wheels on Fire 100. Cyclists can enjoy a 25-, 50- or 100-mile ride on Route 666 and through the plains and mesas of Quay County. Prospective participants can sign up at http://www.bikereg.com/wheels-on-fire-100. Start and finish line at Tucumcari Convention Center.

• Nov. 7 — Denim and Diamonds. More information on this fundraiser for Tucumcari MainStreet will be coming soon. Tucumcari Convention Center.
