Quay sees 2 more confirmed cases

Quay County saw a confirmed case of coronavirus Thursday in Logan and Friday in San Jon, according to the New Mexico Department of Health.

The latest victims were age 30 to 39 and 50 to 59, according to the DOH’s website.

Those brought up the total number of cases in the county since the pandemic began to 64, with two deaths.

The overall totals by ZIP code in the county are 32 in Tucumcari, 29 in Logan and five in San Jon. That total adds up to 66; the DOH did not have an explanation for the discrepancy.

According to the state’s COVID-19 rapid-response database, state Environmental Department officials were referred Saturday to one confirmed coronavirus case at Logan Home and Auto Center, aka Carquest Auto Parts, in Logan. Businesses are required to follow specific safety protocols when they land on the list.

Rapid-response teams last month were referred to three confirmed cases at Logan Municipal Schools and five confirmed cases at Ute Lake State Park in Logan. Both entities closed for at least two weeks after those outbreaks.

A total of 44 people in the county were deemed to have recovered from the virus as of Monday. A total of 1,689 tests for COVID-19 have been administered in Quay County since the pandemic began.

In New Mexico, a total of 46 people were confirmed with the virus on Monday – the lowest total since June 9. The seven-day average through Sunday was 118 — considerably below the gating criteria of 168.

More than 26,100 people have been afflicted with the virus since the pandemic began.

Four deaths were reported Monday, bringing the statewide total to 807.

A total of 65 people remain hospitalized with COVID-19 in New Mexico. A total of 13,604 people have been deemed to have recovered from the disease.

In the U.S., nearly 6.3 million people have been confirmed with the virus, with more than 189,000 deaths through Monday afternoon.
