MainStreet organizing decorating contest

Tucumcari MainStreet is organizing a decorating contest with cash prizes as part of Very Merry Tucumcari festivities for the Christmas holiday.

The nonprofit organization is encouraging homeowners and businesses to decorate their windows, doors and building exteriors to help brighten the city for the season.

The first-place winner will earn $300, while second and third place net $200 and $100 respectively.

Judging will take place on Dec. 1.
