State reports one new COVID-19 case Thursday in Quay County

The state Department of Health on Thanksgiving reported one confirmed case of coronavirus in Quay County.

A woman age 20 to 29 was the latest case, according to the state’s website. It wasn’t clear in what ZIP code she lives.

A total of 111 cases have been reported in the county in November alone.

The total number of cases in the county since the pandemic began rose to 218, with three deaths. A total of 77 people have been deemed by the state as recovered from the virus.

The latest breakdown by ZIP code since the pandemic began is 155 in Tucumcari, 45 in Logan, five in San Jon, five in House, four in McAlister, one in Nara Visa, one in Bard and one in Grady (part of which extends into the county).

In the state, the DOH on Thursday reported 1,708 cases, the second straight day the total fell below 2,000. The number of daily cases in New Mexico has decreased in each of the last seven days. Health officials, however, have cautioned that reported COVID-19 numbers generally fall on holidays and weekends.

The total number in New Mexico since the pandemic began surpassed 89,000.

A total of 671 cases were reported in Bernalillo County, with another 182 in Dona Ana County.

A total of 18 deaths were reported Thursday, raising the overall total to 1,469.

A total of 880 people in the state were hospitalized with the disease on Thursday, the first decrease in many days.

In the U.S., more than 12.8 million confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported through Thursday since the pandemic began, with more than 263,000 deaths.
