Four coronavirus cases reported Friday in county

Four more cases of coronavirus were reported Friday in Quay County by the New Mexico Department of Health, all the Tucumcari ZIP code.

Three women and one man were affected. The age breakdowns were two age 30 to 39, one age 40 to 49 and one age 70 to 79.

The total in the county since the pandemic began rose to 376, with eight deaths. A total of 207 people have been deemed as recovered from the virus.

The case breakdown by ZIP code since the pandemic began is 290 in Tucumcari, 51 in Logan, nine in House, eight in McAlister, seven in San Jon, four in Nara Visa, two in Bard and two in Grady (which has a total of 11 overall).

In New Mexico, a total of 1,266 new COVID-19 cases were reported Friday, bringing the overall total to more than 161,000 since the pandemic began.

A total of 38 deaths were reported Friday, increasing that total to 2,874.

A total of 670 people were hospitalized with the disease, a total that has been trending downward in recent days.

The Amarillo metro region on Friday reported more than 3,100 active cases of the disease with a 22% hospitalization rate, both numbers which have been stable in recent days.

In the U.S., the total number of coronavirus cases rose to more than 23.4 million, with more than 391,000 deaths, on Friday.
