Hospital relaxes visitation policies

Dr. Dan C. Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari last week announced a relaxation of its visitation policies to the hospital and clinics amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hospital now will allow one visitor per adult patient with inpatient settings. Previously, Trigg allowed no visitors except in certain situations.

Before entering any facilities, all visitors will continue to be screened for health conditions and will be required to wear a mask.

The hospital and its clinics will continue to monitor the risk of COVID-19 and will make adjustments to visitor restrictions as necessary and based on available data.

“We know that limiting visits impact the connection between patients and their loved ones,” Presbyterian Healthcare Services, which manages the hospital, stated in a news release. “We encourage loved ones to connect with patients through options such as phone calls, Facetime, Skype, WhatsApp and other online platforms.”

Trigg Memorial Hospital is a county-owned facility that has been managed by Presbyterian Healthcare Services since 1978. It is one of nine hospitals run by Presbyterian, which also has a statewide health plan and a multi-specialty medical group.
