Voter registration initiative under way

The Quay County Clerk’s Office stated in a news release Friday a voter registration update or cancellation initiative is underway in New Mexico and in many adjoining states.

All 33 counties in New Mexico are sending notices to those who are registered in their respective counties but have addresses verified through other agencies that show the recipient may be receiving mail or lives somewhere other than what the county clerk has on file.

Notices are being sent to give voters the chance to update registrations in Quay County. Those who have moved may need to register in their new county of residence or may have to cancel their New Mexico registration due to moving out of state.

“We encourage you to make every attempt to correct any information at this time. If you receive a notice, please fill out the necessary documents provided and return them promptly,” Quay County Clerk Ellen White stated in the release.

“If you are a parent of a child that has moved away who needs to be removed from the Quay County voter rolls, please call our office and we can assist you with accomplishing that.”
