Tucumcari MainStreet selected for support program

Tucumcari MainStreet has been selected to participated in a new small business resiliency audit and resources pilot program.

In partnership with Main Street America and New Mexico MainStreet, Tucumcari MainStreet will create new tools to assist small business owners and identifying and responding to challenges, according to a news release from New Mexico MainStreet.

Over the next four to six months, Tucumcari MainStreet will engage five small business owners and entrepreneurs through assessments, on-site focus groups and interviews exploring the challenges and areas of opportunities for them.

Main Street America will research potential solutions for them and develop technical assistance materials, resources and tools tailored to meet their needs.

“By participating in his pilot rural small business support program, we will be helping our small business owners pinpoint and address their needs as well as connecting them with resources and support,” Tucumcari MainStreet director Connie Loveland said. “Our small businesses will have the chance to express the needs and challenges while being the voice for rural small businesses at a state and national level.”

Funds for the project come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Business Development Grants program.

Main Street America also will help the New Mexico communities of Lovington and Las Vegas, as well as towns in Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
