Press Release:New Mexico State Police investigate explosive device found near Santa Rosa

Guadalupe County – On Thursday, April 04, 2013 at 11:13 a.m., State Police bomb team responded to the Blue Hole located in Santa Rosa, NM regarding the discovery of a possible explosive device.

A visitor to the Blue Hole noticed the suspicious device in the water and immediately contacted the authorities.

A large perimeter was set up around the Blue Hole park and all visitors and employees were evacuated.

State Police bomb team members arrived and conducted an initial assessment on the device and rendered it safe. It was later confirmed the device was in fact an explosive device. There are no reported injuries or property damage related to this incident.

As a precaution, the State Police dive team was activated to conduct a safety sweep of the water in Blue Hole. Also, the State Police bomb detecting K9 was sent to the Blue Hole to conduct protective sweeps around the Blue Hole park.
