Quay County under flood advisory until 7:30 a.m. today, June 24

The National Weather service has issued an arroyo and small stream flood advisory for central Quay County until 7:30 a.m. today.

The advisory follows very heavy rain from a large cluster of thunderstorms along the Interstate 40 corridor, the weather service said.

Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos, small streams and low water crossings, and downstream from wildfire burn areas, the weather service said.

The weather service advises motorists not to drive into areas where water covers the roadway. Water depth may be too great to allow cars to cross safely.
