•Mountain States Telephone announced plans to change its name to "Mountain Bell," according to Red Braziel, local manager, said the company is changing for brevity and to provide easier identification with the nationwide Bell Telephone Systems and its research and development capabilities.

• Bet you don't remember when there was a lake in front of Tucumcari Mountain. A.C. "Pappy" Watson had a picture showing the lake as proof that indeed there was a lake in front of the mountain back around 1907. There was no "T" or radio signal towers on the mountain back then either.

• St. Anne's School closed its doors for the last time, due to financial difficulties and a lack of teaching personnel. The difficulties developed when the lack of teachers became evident, because it was more expensive to hire lay teachers than it was to hire Nuns.

• Roy's Tractor and Implement Co. has taken over the Massey Ferguson line of goods. They will also sell a complete line of parts for this type of equipment, and they will have a repair and welding shop for tractors of all kinds. The managing partners for the company are Roy Jobe and Blevins McKenzie.
